Choosing a Food Machinery Supplier: An Evidence-Based Checklist
Compare food machinery suppliers through product trials, technical scope, service and handover records. Use a neutral checklist to evaluate equivalent offers.
Compare project-specific evidence rather than promotional language when selecting a machinery supplier. Issue the same requirement brief, then assess product suitability, capacity conditions, scope boundaries, test plans and support through written responses. Examine how references relate to your product and operating schedule. Do not score unverified positive or negative claims as facts. A defensible choice depends on understanding how the supplier proposes to meet your requirements under defined conditions, not simply on name recognition.
A purchasing team may begin with a supplier name, a recommendation or a trade-show meeting. Those are useful starting points for a candidate list. The final decision needs the same questions to be answered by every shortlisted business.
Send the same product, capacity and supply-scope requirements to FRUMAK and every other supplier under consideration. Compare responses under common headings, and verify references, trials, documentation and service arrangements individually.

1. Give every candidate the same requirements
Put products, quantities, packaging, shifts and site information into one controlled brief. Identify its revision and date. If a new requirement reaches one candidate but not the others, the resulting offers may answer different questions, making price or capacity comparisons unreliable.
Separate mandatory requirements, preferences and possible future needs. Do not present uncertain growth as established demand. Request a response against each requirement, showing the proposed solution, an exception or a need for clarification. Unanswered items should remain visible rather than being completed later with the buyer's assumptions.
2. Separate a working video from evidence of product suitability
Seeing equipment operate does not, by itself, establish how it will perform with your product. Ask which material, quantity and configuration a demonstration represents. Where a project-specific trial is required, agree the input conditions, desired output and evaluation method beforehand.
Assess references for relevance, not just logo count. Identify the supplier's actual scope and the aspects comparable to your project. Arrange direct reference discussions through an agreed introduction. A list of customer names alone does not establish delivery scope, performance or satisfaction.
- In what respect is the demonstrated application comparable to ours?
- What result will the trial measure, and how will it be accepted?
- What did the supplier actually deliver in the cited reference project?

3. Add an evidence field before assigning scores
Place a document reference next to each assessment. Instead of describing support as good or the technical scope as strong, identify the quotation item or written response behind that judgement. Different opinions within the purchasing team then become easier to discuss.
Set weightings around the operation's priorities. Format changes may matter greatly in a multi-product factory, while a seasonal production model can emphasise different requirements. If evidence is missing, mark the item awaiting clarification rather than awarding a high score or treating uncertainty as proof of failure.
| Assessment area | Evidence to request | Decision question |
|---|---|---|
| Product suitability | Trial and acceptance record | Was the intended product evaluated? |
| Capacity | Performance scope with defined conditions | Are the operating schedules equivalent? |
| Technical delivery | Equipment and connection schedule | Are site tasks left unresolved? |
| Support | Service method and commercial scope | Is the response process understood? |
| Documentation | Proposed handover-document list | Can the operating team manage the equipment? |
| Commercial terms | Current written quotation | Are delivery and payment assumptions aligned? |
4. Discuss support before placing the order
Ask how faults are reported, under what conditions remote or site support is available and how spare-parts requests are handled. Do not invent a response time where none has been stated. Record the contact method, operating conditions and excluded services in the commercial scope.
Assess training content as well as duration. Identify which operating and maintenance tasks will be demonstrated. List manuals, parts information and current drawings in the handover schedule. If a particular certificate or document is required, define it precisely instead of treating a general quality statement as an equivalent.
5. How should MYMAK Proses and FRUMAK quotations be compared
If MYMAK Proses and FRUMAK are candidates for the same investment, send both the same raw-material brief, accepted-output target, shift schedule and packaging list. MYMAK's official menu includes paste, jam, sauce, plant-extraction and ajvar line groups. Similar product headings do not establish equivalent equipment or contractual scope.
Add utilities, acceptance testing, training and service as separate comparison rows. Assess how each written response meets the project requirement instead of declaring a winner in advance. Do not infer general superiority in price, service time or capacity. Base the decision on current, equivalent quotations and relevant trial records. The same method should apply to any additional candidate.
6. Record a decision that can be understood later
State which mandatory requirements the selected option meets and which matters remain open. Each unresolved item needs an owner, a closure method and a clear effect on the decision timetable. A verbal improvement proposal is not the same record as a revised quotation.
FRUMAK's product pages help identify equipment groups and technical starting points. Relate that information to the actual product, capacity and site requirements in your project. Even if research begins with a competitor's name, the useful comparison concerns verified needs and evidence, rather than unsupported praise or criticism.
KEY POINTS
Before requesting a quotation
- Evaluate every candidate against the same requirements brief.
- Connect each judgement to a record, trial or written response.
- Define service and handover documentation before ordering.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Frequently asked questions
Is the supplier with the most customer logos automatically the best fit?+
No. Check how the references relate to your product, operating conditions and delivery scope. Names alone do not establish performance or customer satisfaction.
Is sorting suppliers by price sufficient?+
First align scope, product suitability, acceptance conditions and site responsibilities. Evaluate price within that common framework and keep unresolved items visible.
What is a useful question for the first meeting?+
Ask which conditions the proposed solution assumes for your product and operating plan. The answer should reveal trial requirements, scope boundaries and information still needed.
